209 days to go...

Lookin' babyesque at 10 weeks, 1 day.
…is what my Pregnancy Day by Day bible says.  Baby’s organ systems are now present, so at this point “she” changes from being an embryo to a fetus.  Her eyes have started to move more centrally, the nose is visible, the ears have started to move to their final position, the ovaries (or testes) are beginning to develop, and the head achieves a more rounded contour.  So I read!  The neck has lengthened, allowing the baby to nod and shake her head from side to side, and baby’s limbs are more developed now, too.  Yowza, I guess pain around the pelvis is expected to pick up as my body begins to accommodate my growing uterus!  Oh, bring it on! ;)  Otherwise, I've only gained 1-2 lbs.

It's been nice chattin' with my dad a bit about my "condition".  He starts to tell me what he remembers about my mom being pregnant.  Then he can't help but share that same ole story I've been listening to for years, about the trip they made to this barn filled with lots of animals -- the place they went to buy me.  Oh, and how there were rabbits and "chivitos" (baby goats).  Dad wanted a little goat, but my mom wanted me, so that's how I was chosen.  But they got the little goat, too, to feed me its milk.  Oh geez!  I told that to a group of students one year, and they got a big kick out of it.  Then my dad got the biggest kick, knowing his story was being retold!  He's just too funny!  I love it!

Fetal Footage

Interpretation:  Baby's head is on the left, facing downward.  Heartbeat is what's pulsing in the center.  Arms are moving low center.  The video stops for a moment to be measured, and then resumes.
OLIVIA HERE
Hello Everybody!  We're very fortunate and excited to be seen by the doctor weekly.  This is mostly due to some hormone production issues I was having.  Everything seems to really be working out so far.  We're so thankful, and yes, we're becoming baby blog people.  Geez, why not?  It's a proud new chapter for us.  And, we would love it if you would "follow" our blog and become a member of the site and leave comments for us...pretty please!

We've only told a few people so far.  We plan to share with all in about three weeks.  That'll put us at 12-13 weeks, entering the 2nd trimester!!

HOW AM I FEELING?
I am EXHAUSTED!  I am hungry and thirsty!  I am cold.  And I am GREAT!  Nope, no morning sickness.  However, sometimes my body throws me off, and I'm not sure if it's about to growl or express indigestion.  It's usually both.  So, do I eat, or don't I?  ...yes, please!

Week 7 Ultrasound

We walked into the doctor's office at 6:28 this morning, already third in line. Despite a short and groggy wait, we got good news: el marisco is 10 millimeters long, right on track for 7 weeks 1 day. We also saw the heartbeat for the first time.

Happy times!

Six Week Ultrasound

Jon here - here is the fascinating ultrasound taken last week at a bit over six weeks into the pregnancy, almost one week ago. They tell us most women don't get an ultrasound (or even see a doctor) until ten weeks, but Olivia is getting extra prenatal care due to certain risk factors. One nice side effect of this: we get to see ultrasounds every week!

This is our first look at the baby. Our tiny marisco is shown on the ultrasound as a little diagonal line, right at the tip of the arrowhead. It's a couple millimeters. We're headed back to the doc at 6:3o am tomorrow to get a Week 7 ultrasound, and there should be more to see then!
